Ombudsman of Artsakh continues cooperation with international partners 1 year after April War

One year after the April four day war intense works are underway in Artsakh and Armenia with international colleagues of the Ombudsman. Ruben Melikyan, Ombudsman (Human Rights Defender) of the Republic of Artsakh, told Artsakh learned different lessons from the April War from the legal point of view.

“We must carry out larger works with our international partners for presenting the main issue and its peculiarities. These works in my opinion are carried out intensely in both Armenia and Artsakh,” Melikyan said.

According to him, greater attention must be drawn, and has been drawn, on the circumstances which led to the April War. In addition to other reasons, Anti-Armenianism, which has spread largely in Azerbaijan, must be indicated.

“We must pay great attention to this fact while working with our partners,” he said. After the April War, the Ofce of Artsakh Ombudsman gathered new facts on Azerbaijani tortures of Armenian soldiers, which were presented to international structures as reports.

Commenting on this, Melikyan said they are also working on presenting other facts and reports to international structures. According to him, various format meetings and visits are held. Melikyan reassured they continue actions and they will denitely inform the public on the results.
