St. Petersburg metro blast: Death toll reaches 14

The death toll in the blast that occurred in St. Petersburg metro on April 3 reached 14, Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova said, reports TASS.

“Today the death of 14 people can be verified,” the Minister said, adding that 11 of them died at the scene, 1 while being transferred to hospital, and 2 of them in the reception of hospital. Veronika Skvortsova said currently 49 people are hospital.

“13 of them were released from the hospital. All patients are examined by the best specialists, all are provided with medicine and blood”, she said. An unidentified device went off at about 14:40 Moscow time on April 3 in a subway train car when the train was moving from Tekhnologichesky Institute Station to Sennaya Ploshchad Station.

The Russian Investigative Committee has qualified the blast as a terrorist attack, but other versions are looked into.
