Daily Mail: Mkhitaryan shows generous side

The pair appeared to speak briefly on Monday following the Armenian international’s kind gesture as he and his United team-mates gear up to face Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.

Jose Mourinho’s side go into the second leg fixture on the back of a fine display against Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Still with a chance of finishing in the top four – they sit four points behind rivals City with a game in hand – United went 22 games unbeaten in the top-flight after getting the better of Antonio Conte’s side.

And in Europe, after drawing 1-1 in Belgium last week – courtesy of a Mkhitaryan goal – the Red Devils will be confident they can keep their momentum going by beating Anderlecht at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata, meanwhile, also had to watch United’s latest victory from the stands after being sidelined with a groin injury.

The Spaniard, who is out for the season after undergoing surgery, admitted he wanted to ‘jump onto the pitch’ to help his team-mates.

‘I went to Old Trafford to see the game. You feel like you want to jump onto the pitch and help the team,’ Mata wrote in his blog.

‘But I must be patient and keep training to be back as soon as possible.’
