‘The Promise’ screened in Stockholm

The exclusive prescreening of the movie “The Promise” was organized at Stockholm’s historical “Grand Cinema” by the Embassy of Armenia in Sweden. The event was attended by dozens of parliamentarians and ambassadors accredited in Stockholm, numerous public and political figures, intellectuals, diplomats, genocide scholars, representatives of Armenian, Assyrian and Kurdish communities of Sweden, the foreign ministry told.

Swedish famous film director PeÅ Holmquist, whose documentary film “Back to Ararat” won the Swedish Movie Academy highest Guldbagge award for the best film in 1989, addressed the audience with opening remarks.

After the screening a reception was hosted at the Embassy of Armenia. In his speech, Ambassador Artak Apitonian thanked those Swedish politicians, scholars and journalists who for decades had their irrefutable input in promoting the recognition of Armenian Genocide in Sweden and raising the Swedish public knowledge about the subject.

“The Promise” will premier in Swedish movie theaters from May 19th.
