Armenian-US partnership has moved from assistance providing to economic relations: Matthew Eussen
Armenia has favorable economic opportunities. USD 500 million investments have been made in Armenia by US companies in the last 2 years, Matthew Eussen, head of the political and economic department of the US Embassy in Armenia said.
According to him, working with the Government of Armenia, the US Embassy in Armenia prioritizes fight against corruption, steps for improving the business environment, protection of intellectual property, issues connected with tax and customs administration, which are key factors for foreign businessmen to be competitive and successful.
After implementation of all the mentioned steps the businessmen will feel more condent and will be ready to make more investments. “We have witnessed positive trends in these directions. The investments by US companies amounting to 500 million USD in the last 2 years evidence that.
Our Government is ready and has resources to work in that direction. We have a framework agreement of trade and investments with Armenia, as well as there is the Armenian-American intergovernmental working group on economic issues.
We involve there American and Armenian business representatives to understand and support them in order to develop business relations,” Eussen said. According to him, during the 25 years of Armenia’s independence the relations of the two countries have developed and the partnership has moved from the format of assistance providing to the field of trade and economic relations.
