Azerbaijani tomato and apple are safe: Hrach Berberyan

“Of course, it isn’t pleasant, when a box marked as “Azerbaijan” appears in Yerevan, but don’t forget that in previous years our apricot wrapped in Armenian newspapers, appeared in markets of Baku,” Hrach Berberyan,  president of Armenia’s Agrarian-Rural Union, told reporters touching upon Azerbaijani tomatoes and apples. In his words even people in Baku were called not to eat those apricots.

“Market is market. Anyway, if the production has consumption, of course, it’ll find its market legally. Together with the Food Safety and Quality Inspection we studied the product in the laboratory, there is no safety issue. Of course, there was extortion, smuggling, for which, I consider a few persons will be held accountable,” Hrach Berberyan said.

Asked if apples are the only case, that they were smuggled, he said, “Of course, no. If anyone is brought to criminal responsibility, naturally, it wasn’t once.”
