Armen Ashotyan: “It is the sacred duty of the incumbent authorities to strengthen the real trenches for the security of Artsakh and Armenia instead of strengthening the trenches within the country”
Armen Ashotyan wrote the following on his Facebook page:
“The foreign minister of Azerbaijan also addressed the General Debate of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York yesterday.
Mammadyarov was predictable. He declaimed the doping of gas-oil (“Azerbaijan’s advancement is sweeping”) in terms of the socio-economic situation, told stories about Azerbaijan’s new initiatives on international platforms and, of course, he talked about Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.
The section devoted to us Armenians was not original — Mammadyarov spiced up the “occupation-ethnic cleansing-territorial integrity trinity” by speculating the relevant Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and by posing threats to Armenians. What was also noteworthy was how he alluded to the actual ineffectiveness of the negotiations in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
It is obvious that Nikol Pashinyan’s formula — a resolution acceptable for the three parties — was rejected, and the “either everything or war” approach was emphasized.
Consequently, alongside the diplomatic processes and negotiations, it is the sacred duty of the incumbent authorities to strengthen the real trenches for the security of Artsakh and Armenia instead of strengthening the trenches within the country.
I believe the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia must give a clear and sharper response to Mammadyarov’s speech. Armenian parliamentarians also have to take action. They should speak less about “the revolution” abroad and take more action to talk about Artsakh within the scope of global politics.”
