Armenia deploys more military units along eastern border to curb Azerbaijani aggression

The Armed Forces of Armenia have deployed more units along the eastern borders of Syunik and Gegharkunik to prevent Azerbaijani troops from advancing further into the country’s territory.

The only option left as the only sensible solution after the past days’ standoff is the adversary’s return to its starting positions, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release today, adding that the negotiations to resolve the crisis are currently underway.

The Ministry expresses hope that the process will yield the desired outcome to achieve final peace, warning at the same time of its right to resort to other methods (including use of force) in case of a failure to reach a settlement “within reasonable timeframes”.

No changes in the border zone were reported as of the early hours of Wednesday after the acts of sabotage on May 12 and 13.
