442 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered in Armenia in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 34,001, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention said today.
“The Armenian side should not forget that the latest missile systems, which are in the arsenal of the Azerbaijani army, can hit the Metsamor NPP with a great accuracy, which will lead to a great disaster for Armenia”, the Azerbaijani defense ministry spokesperson told reporters at a press conference.
A resident of Chinari village of Armenia’s Tavush province has been wounded from the Azerbaijani combat drone strike on July 16, Head of the Crisis Information Center Artsrun Hovhannisyan said.
During today’s Cabinet meeting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan commented on the sabotage infiltration attempt carried out by the Azerbaijani special forces at night on the border, which involved more than 100 personnel and aimed at capturing the border position of the Armenian Armed Forces named “Anvakh” located in Tavush province.
At around 03:40 at night, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces have noticed movement of the Azerbaijani side, Armenian defense ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said on Facebook.
“The Azerbaijani armed forces, including the border guard service and the 3rd army corps, have used almost all weapons available in their arsenal, except for several means. All caliber firearms, tanks, artillery, up to 122 mm or larger caliber, most of the artillery, mortars, attacking drones were used”, he said.
Two servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces – Major Garush Hambardzumyan and Captain Sos Elbakyan, were fatally wounded by the shot fired from the Azerbaijani side at the north-eastern section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border, Armenian defense ministry spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan said on Facebook.
