The Court of Appeals in Yerevan has adjourned the hearing over the prosecution’s complaint seeking the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan. Gevorgyan is also a former Secretary of the Security Council.
The 132 Members of Parliament of the 7th National Assembly of Armenia includes a rather high number of former journalists, who for various reasons decided to leave the news media and take up politics.
“We give no comments on such information”, she said.
Judge Nelly Baghdasaryan, the judge who presided over the court proceedings in former President Robert Kocharyan’s bail hearings, has recused herself following a peremptory challenge filed by the prosecutors.
Armenia’s Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan has held a phone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart Gabit Bayzhanov, Grigoryan’s office said.
On 7 December 2018, the Court of Appeal in Armenia ordered the arrest of the former President Robert Kocharyan. He was charged on 26 July 2018 with overthrowing the constitutional order during the 2008 post-election period.
Even though 70 years have passed since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it yet has not succeeded in becoming a major important established achievement of the world civilization after the Nazi rule period and the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and the colonization and indigenous massacres in the Americas, Africa and Asia. The Russian Vedomosti newspaper has named caretaker Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan Politician of the Year by the readers’ voting. Among other candidates for the category, the newspaper’s editorial board chose German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay an official visit to Armenia.
“Our position is that here we need institutional solutions in order for the kind of adjustments to take place in the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s charter that would envisage mechanisms for the future in order for such debates not to happen due to non-regulation,” Pashinyan said in a live Facebook broadcast.
