Lavrov on NK Conflict Settlement

Sergey Lavrov, RF Foreign Minister, delivered a speech at the State Duma today, during which he stated that in the territory of CIS, like in any other region, conflicts should be settled exclusively peacefully, through political-diplomatic means and by military ones, official website of RF MFA states.

In his words, it refers internal Ukrainian crisis, Transnistria, as well as Nagorno-Karabakh issue. “It’s important to respect agreements reached by the sides, and not allow revision,” Lavrov said.

“We are convinced, that all those crisis situations would be more easily settled in case of overcoming systemic shortcomings in the field of pan-European cooperation, annulation of maintained dividing line,” he said, calling to initiate a common economic and humanitarian domain, which will stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and will be based on equal and inseparable security architecture.

“Eurasian Economic Union, despite the well-known difficulties, succeeded as a contemporary international organization. Resolutions made in Astana on May 31 are directed to acquisition of exact purposes, rising of their competitiveness,” he said, stressing that consolidation of Russia and Belarus Union State, productive functioning of CSTO, methods of improvement of work by CIS are in the center of attention.
