“We have Positive Developments Regarding some Countries, in Particular, Iraq and China”
The National Assembly debated the agreement on “Encouragement of investments and mutual defense” signed between the Republic of Armenia and Iraq Republic.
Main speaker was Garegin Melkonyan, First Deputy Minister of Economy, who stated that Armenia has signed likewise agreements with many other countries. “It’s anticipated to develop a legal system of mutual encouragement of investments, mutual defense. Legal regulations will be implemented from the standpoint of mutual investments,” Melkonyan stated.
The Deputy Minister added that trade turnover between Armenia and Iraq comprised USD 132 million. “If we observe its structure, USD 130 million of that amount belongs to export from Armenia. Mainly industrial production is being exported. We have positive developments regarding some countries, in particular, Iraq and China. We have 30-40% growth to these countries, which is quite positive, and this agreement is directed to regulation of relations from the standpoint of investments,” he said.
