The Smiling Soldier: David Grigoryan, who Lost Two Legs, Walks Now
Davit Grigoryan, an Armenian soldier, who lost two legs during the April war, now has the opportunity to walk, his doctor Mkrtich Ginosyan shared the news on Facebook with a photo accompanying the post.
To remind, Davit got the nickname “smiling” by social media users, who appreciated the soldier’s positivism seeing him smiling in all photos taken at hospital.
Earlier Davit Grigoryan told,
“I heard a blast and felt I lost my leg. Takin out my belt, I started binding it tight to stop the bleeding. I was about to finish, when another explosion followed and I lost my second leg. I tied my second leg with a shoelace from my military boot. Then I lied down waiting for my friends to come for held. I felt a solid material under my head which appeared to be a mine; I took out it through grabbing the soil. The visit of national hero, Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan encouraged me much. I asked him to allow me to continue my military service. I am thankful to him for giving me the opportunity to serve in a unit located in my native Noyemberyan,” Davit said.
