A sobering slap to Azerbaijan
“The Russian side doesn’t save efforts to possibly separate itself from talks around Russia-Azerbaijan deals, impression of which the Azerbaijani side attempts to leave for a lasting period. Russia on the level of Russia’s president and Foreign Minister, and Armenia’s Ambassador to Russia doesn’t miss the chance to insist that it acts in jointly with OSCE MG Co-Chairs, and their issue is preventing conflict escalation. It was also enshrined in recent Putin-Sargsyan meeting,” Stansilav Tarasov, columnist at Russian “Regnum” news agency, political scientist, told 168.am reflecting to the statement issued as a result of negotiations in Moscow.
The expert qualified this a “sobering slap” to Azerbaijan.
According to another political scientist—Alexander Skakov, the statement has a few addressees. “The West, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan may draw conclusions from the statement. Karabakh provision is also crucial from the perspective that it expressed joint position of the presidents of Armenia and Russia on installation of security mechanisms. There is incorrect impression that Armenia and the US are interested in this issue,” Skakov said.
