2,564,334 eligible voters in Armenia for upcoming parliamentary elections
The Parliamentary election in Armenia is just one month ahead. The campaigning period will begin March 5, when political forces will present their programs and vision of development of the country to voters.
Ahead of the campaigns, the Central Electoral Commission released the number of eligible voters, according to electoral districts, as well as accredited media outlets for covering the election process and both local and international observer missions.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, 2 million 564 thousand 334 citizens are eligible to vote. 6 local organizations have been accredited for observer missions. As of this moment, in addition to the local organizations, OSCE / ODIHR has been accredited to carry our observer mission. PACE has also announced on observing the election.
877 people are eligible for e-voting. According to the new electoral code, as result of the election, representatives of 4 largest ethnic minorities having permanent residence in Armenia must also be included in the Parliament.
According to the CEC – 35 thousand 308 Yazidis, 11 thousand 911 Russians, 2769 Assyrians and 2 thousand 162 Kurds reside in Armenia.
9 political forces will run in the election: 5 parties and 4 blocs – Republican Party of Armenia, Armenian Revival Party, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Party, Free Democrats Party and Communist Party of Armenia, as well as the Tsarukyan alliance, Yelk alliance and Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanyan alliance
