On November 12, 2008 the then Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan delivered a speech in the NA linked to introduction of state budget 2009. Fiscal crisis had already done its black job, however, it didn’t fully impact on Armenia’s economy.
0.7% decrease was recorded in Armenia in the field of services rendered to the population in January 2017 compared with December 2016, which is mainly a result of tariff drop in the fields of housing and communal services—1.8% (linked to reduction of gas fuel selling through pipelines by 5.2%), culture—0.9%.
Decrease in the field of construction has already become usual. The then driving force of economy started to rush down from 2009 and the process continues until now. Upon the data of National Statistical Service of Armenia construction volumes comprise AMD 397.6 billion in 2016, which is less by 10.8% from previous year’s index.
The new Law on Procurement has come into force since 1 January 2017, principles of which are raising the effectiveness of public finance spending and neutralization of corruption risks. Vardan Aramyan, Minister of Finance of Armenia, told at today’s seminar-discussion on public procurement.

Expenditures in the field of apartment construction and services have decreased the most—18.2%, thus, comprising AMD 16.3 billion. The highest growth—10.7% was recorded in general public services. Expenditures directed to the field of defence have grown by 6.7% in 2016 and comprised AMD 211.8 billion.
At today’s Government session Karen Karapetyan stressed establishment of favorable conditions for economy development by state bodies. According to him measures should be taken, which will provide unimpeded development of business environment. K.Karapetyan highlighted undertaking of legislative changes as well directed to clarification of evading taxes, duties or other mandatory fees under the Criminal Code.
Construction volumes in Armenia comprised AMD 397 billion 759.3 million in the period of January-December 2016. Pursuant data issued by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, toward the same period of the previous year decrease was recorded by 10.8%.
“This is the potential we see for now – 345 programs. Both the financial source and the program managers are already known,” Karen Karapetyan stated, adding that at the moment the Cabinet discusses 55 more programs.
2 thousand 12 units of tablets were produced in Armenia during January-December of 2016. According to the National Statistical Service, the indicator increased 2.2 times compared to 2015.
