A Yerevan court has ruled to jail former Deputy Chief of Staff of Parliament Arsen Babayan in pre-trial detention.
PM Nikol Pashinyan says immediately after taking office he has raised the issue of weapons supplies to Azerbaijan in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
“They took me out of the operating room and drove me to an interview at the Special Investigation Service, after which I returned to the operating room and continued performing the surgery,” Babloyan said.
The Special Investigations Service has charged ex-Deputy Chief of Staff of the Parliament Staff Arsen Babayan with Paragraph 1 Article 38-300 and Paragraph 1 Article 314 of the Criminal Code that in 2018 when he was serving as acting deputy chief of staff of parliament he “assisted the usurpation of powers of the Constitutional Court by a group of persons, as well as committed official falsification,” the SIS said in a news release.
As already reported, during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case instituted by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia under part 1 of Article 300 of the RA Criminal Code, former Speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan has been engaged as a suspect and is suspected of possessing the powers of the Constitutional Court.
Nairi Hunanyan, who is the leader of the terrorist group in the case of the events of October 27, 1999, is sentenced to life imprisonment and is serving punishment at Yerevan Kentron Penitentiary Institution, has submitted an application with the request for conditional early release.
