The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed the reasons behind suspending Marianne Clark-Hattingh’s duties as UNICEF’s Representative in Armenia.
President Armen Sarkissian refused to approve Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s motion on dismissing the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan. The President returned the motion with objections, his office said.

The Azerbaijani authorities continue blocking Artsakh’s search and rescue teams from searching for the remains of the casualties in combat zones of the 2020 war.

It is important to note that this process of strategic analysis and planning of the RA defense system development until 2018 was carried out in accordance with modern international standards of the NATO Individual Partnership Action Program under the supervision of leading experts of the Russian Federation, the United States, CSTO and NATO. Based on the results of the SDR, medium-term plans for the development of the Armenian Armed Forces were elaborated. The latest SDR, which confirmed the high level of combat capability of the RA defense system, was conducted under the leadership of the RA ex-Commander-in-Chief S. Sargsyan and RA ex-Minister of Defense S. Ohanyan.[17]
Kapan city of Syunik region, Nerkin Hand, Shikahogh, Srashen villages were visited by a fact-finding team headed by Armenia’s Human Rights Defender on February 16, 2021. The visit recorded violations or dangers for residents’ right to life, property, and other vital rights, Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan said in a statement.
