The NKR Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns any attempts of the Azerbaijani authorities to reconsider these agreements, regarding them as an overt intention of Azerbaijan to unleash a new war, and insists on the full restoration of the ceasefire regime established in May 1994.
Given the current situation, the Ministry of Defense of the NKR advises the Azerbaijani army to respect the arrangement on ceasing the fire reached between the parties on the latter’s request and warns against turning the peaceful settlements into firing positions and making them legitimate military targets. Otherwise, the Azerbaijan’s military-political command will bear the whole responsibility for the consequences.
From the very first moments of wide-scale attack by the adversary along the entire Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact, the Union of Artsakh Freedom Fighters directed its whole potential towards strengthening of the defense system of the Republic and security provision.
“Nowadays, emotions and worries, discussions and analyses related to the war actions of April 2-5 have not subsided yet. Azerbaijan unleashed another war against Artsakh. And once again after suffering great losses, was thrown back. The true objective, or rather the true dream of Azerbaijan is the occupation of Artsakh and its cleansing of Armenians which means its population will be partly purged, partly deported.”
Today, on the 101th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, President Serzh Sargsyan visited Tsitsernakaberd and paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Mets Eghern. He laid a wreath at the memorial and placed flowers near the eternal fire which perpetuates the memory of the innocent victims.
We also call on the government of Turkey to respect and realize fully the legal obligations which it has undertaken including those provisions, which relate to the protection of cultural heritage and, in particular, to conduct in good faith an integrated inventory of Armenian and other cultural heritage destroyed or ruined during the past century.
“Just a few weeks ago, during the large-scale offensive unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh, Azeri soldiers were not content with just shooting their arms: they mutilated elderly people, Armenian soldiers, decapitated them and cut off their ears and presented those actions in the social networks as a manifestation of heroism. It was all evidently encouraged by the Azerbaijani authorities. “
Nagorno Karabakh Republic (Artsakh Republic) Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) has published a report on atrocities committed by Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the civilian population of the NKR and the servicemen of the NKR Defense Army during the period of 2-5April 2016. As informed from the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of Republic of Armenia President’s Office, the Armenian President was met at Stepanakert Airport by NKR President Bako Sahakyan, Defense Ministers of the two Armenian Republics, as well as other officials.
“My name has been touched upon in Armenian and International press regarding the Panama offshore papers. I regret that my name is listed along with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s family, who embezzled billions of dollars. It is unacceptable for my name to cause any parallel between my country and the authoritarian Azerbaijan. For this very reason I have submitted a resignation letter. I will publicly speak on the offshore papers.”
