Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is currently on a working visit in Artsakh, visited the Defense Army headquarters together with President Bako Sahakyan where a consultation took place.
Nothing has changed in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact and the Azerbaijani build-up of military equipment remain the same, acting defense minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan said at a press briefing. Sargsyan noted than tension isn’t manifested in intensity of gunfire, but by build-ups.
Candidate for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says he is certain that the negotiations for the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict cannot be complete and effective without the participation of one party – the leadership of Artsakh.
On May 6, at 22:18 local time, the Seismic Protection Survey Seismological Network of Armenia’s emergency situations ministry registered an earthquake at the northern latitude 39.810 and eastern longitude 43.170 geographic coordinates (Turkey, 18 km north-east from the city of Aghri) with 4.1 magnitude and 10 km depth.
The situation in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact continued to be tense during the week.
On May 3, in accordance with the arrangement reached with the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh, the OSCE Mission conducted a planned monitoring of the ceasefire regime on the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, to the southeast from Talish village of the Martakert region.
A Sukhoi-30SM Russian jet has crashed in Syria killing both of its pilots, including captain of the crew ethnic Armenian Mayor Albert Davidyan, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, spokesperson of the Armenian defense ministry, said on Facebook.
The Azerbaijani media outlets on May 3 spread another disinformation according to which the Armenian forces shelled last night at the direction of civilians carrying out renovation and repair works near Jamanli village of Aghdam region as a result of which the equipment working in the scene was damaged.
President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan on May 2 visited the defense ministry where he met with the supreme command staff of the Defense Army.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, the negotiations over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement will have a meaning only in case when Azerbaijan will address a very clear message to the international community that it commits to respect and recognize norms of international law and is ready for the issue’s settlement within the framework of these norms.
