The private meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev is being held following their meeting in the residence of the Swiss permanent representative in the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
The meeting will be followed by a private meeting of Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev.
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Geneva where he will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev by the initiative of the OSCE Minsk Group, Armenian President’s spokesperson Vladimir Hakobyan said.
“We will continue to show principled stance on restoration of complete format of negotiation process. The fate of Artsakh cannot be determined without its direct participation in all rounds of the negotiation process. And here we together with Armenia will continue to take respective steps”, Bako Sahakyan said.
On the initiative of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, on October 16 a meeting will be held between Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Geneva, Switzerland.
“It is no coincidence that the Co-Chairing countries clearly talk about strengthening the ceasefire regime, installing cameras, Azerbaijan’s implementation of commitments, installing investigative mechanism and etc. Azerbaijan will gradually appear under the international pressure in all spheres, be it in the Nagorno Karabakh negotiation process and in perverting the European structures”, he said.
There is no clarity about the date of the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents. If the date is specified, it will be announced, deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan told reporters after today’s Cabinet meeting.
There is no positive trend in the negotiation process over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict which would allow to talk about progress, deputy foreign minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
Anatoly Sidorov said Azerbaijan would seek another supplier of weapons if a CSTO member state doesn’t sell weapons to it.
Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan will depart on a two-day visit to Iran on October 9 at the invitation of first vice president of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri.
