He singled out a few of them. “In his speech at the National Assembly president Serzh Sarsgyan said that by saying concession we understand realization of the right of Artsakhi people to self-determination, and basically, new assessment is provided to the concept mutual concession.
“Through such provocative activities they intend to disorientate the international community and direct the arrow toward Armenia. It’s already a new strategy and shelling their own borders, territories under their control and filming they haven’t thought that we and international organizations have the opportunity to film.”
“In order to maintain peace and stability in the region Azerbaijan must recognize complete exercise of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination: as long as Azerbaijan doesn’t recognize that right, the conflict cannot be settled,” Sharmazanov said.
The Armenian side suffered no casualties as a result of the Azerbaijani ceasefire violations. The Defense Army forces of Artsakh took countermeasures to suppress the Azerbaijani activeness and continued conducting the reliable protection of military posts.
In addition, the Azerbaijani forces fired also 60 mm mortar (4 shells) at the northern direction of the line of contact. The Artsakh Defense Army forces mainly refrained from taking countermeasures and continue condently conducting the military service.
“There are two main streams contributing to peace and stability in the region: Armed Forces of Artsakh and Armenia, their combat readiness, this is one of the most important factors. The other crucial factor is consolidated opinion of the international community, that war is impermissible. In particular, they more seriously refer to these issues after April 2016.”
“Unfortunately, we recorded a casualty—this is irreversible loss, like any of them. Azerbaijan simply is playing with the fire. Such behavior, manifestation of such impudent, irreverent attitude towards the international community, I consider shouldn’t remain with no reply. Soon it may be anticipated that in case of continuity of such behavior tougher and more painful steps will be taken toward Azerbaijan: we hope it’ll be so,” Davit Babayan said.
“It is difficult to build statehood in the conditions of the armed conflict, which, unfortunately, is being escalated. I visited Nagorno Karabakh in August, 2014, the period when the situation was tense. I have visited there also during the constitutional referendum this year, and we were together in the place when the residents of Talish were resettled.
“Mediator countries are attempting to prevent the escalation processes with this statement, because Azerbaijan is consistently adding tension to processes in the frontline. The chapter of solving the conflict militarily hasn’t yet been closed in Azerbaijan – Azerbaijan’s intention on preparing for active actions is simply obvious,” Abrahamyan said.
The defense ministry of Artsakh told a 21 year old soldier of the country’s Defense Army, identified as Karen Danielyan, has been shot dead in the early morning of May 20 by Azerbaijani forces.
