On April 1 and throughout the morning of April 2 the adversary undertook large-scale offensive military actions, during which the adversary used tanks, artillery and air force in the southern, south-eastern and north-eastern directions of the line of contact .

Serzh Sargsyan noted that Armenia is deeply concerned with the actions of the terrorist groups carried out in the vicinity of our country and strongly condemns them. The President mentioned with pain that as a result of the atrocities conducted in Iraq and Syria many Armenians residing there are being killed or become refugees and that centuries old relics of the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage are destroyed and damaged.
“We should be united and take coordinated steps both for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, just settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue and for the economic development and prosperity of our homeland. There are numerous actions that we need to take in this direction, and I expect you to be actively taking initiative on your own. You are, of course, aware that the global economic crisis and economic upheavals did not circumvent Armenia, and it further complicated the conditions we have found ourselves in. Meanwhile, I should also register that even under the recent upheavals that European nations and Russia have gone through, we still have been able to register economic growth of three per cent, while a number of countries in our region have reported economic decline.”
“Irreversible were the losses of the genocide that befell the Armenians. The world now recognizes and condemns this atrocious crime, but what is of utmost importance to us is the recognition by Turkey and facing its own history. The Centenary of the Armenian Genocide showed that Armenian-Turkish reconciliation is not a top-down exercise. The Turkish authorities opted for flagrant falsification of history.”
“We are strongly interested in Turkey’s peaceful and democratic development. It is our belief that fundamental democratization is the only way in which all the peoples living in Turkey will feel as fully-fledged citizens and will be able to lead a dignified life. Ethnic and religious minorities will not be taken as second- or third-class. Unfortunately, we are witnessing the opposite trends in public and political life in some of our neighboring countries, which is worrisome,” Serzh sargsyan said.

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation headed by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the CSTO PA Council Sergey Naryshkin.
We are certainly concerned with the tense situation in the areas adjacent to the CSTO realm of responsibility. In my statement at the December session as well as in my other statements I have stated clearly that we firmly support the Russian position regarding Syria and of course welcome agreements you have reached with the United States on the cessation of the military activities.
