Armenia’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan appointed Aram Araratyan as his press secretary on May 20, the government’s press service informed.
“I have an impression that people were unable to understand that such crimes really happened. But at the same time I want to congratulate the Armenian people who maintained their honor and accepted to some extent their own history, as well as had the courage to pass the brutal page of this history for brighter times to come.”
The Texas House of Representatives unanimously passed House Resolution 191, titled “Recognizing the Armenian Genocide,” on May 19, thus making The Lone Star State the 46th state in the U.S. to ofcially classify and commemorate the 1915-1923 annihilation of Ottoman Turkey’s indigenous Armenian community as genocide, the Armenian Weekly reports.
Former defense minister of Artsakh Samvel Babayan’s remand has been extended by two months, his attorney told Armenpress. According to him, Babayan didn’t want to be present in Court. Babayan was arrested on March 20 amid an investigation into smuggling of a surface to air missile system to Armenia.
