Azerbaijan has pushed itself into a deadlock with perspectiveless steps. This relates not only to the NK talks, but also to the domestic and foreign policy – thus also closing the way out of this deadlock, Armenian deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan said after today’s Cabinet meeting.
Armenia is following the serious military-political processes which are happening not far from its borders, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in his speech at the National Defense Research University’s session on October 24.
The defense ministry of the Artsakh Republic released a video of the launch of SPIKE anti-tank guided missile used by Azerbaijani forces on October 22 and the trace left by it.
On October 22 the Azerbaijani forces, violating the recent agreement reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Geneva by the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group, fired artillery weapons at the north-eastern direction (Martakert-Mataghis) of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, as well as fired 5 shells and SPIKE anti-tank guided missile at the Armenian positions, the defense ministry of the Artsakh Republic reported.
The practice of selling large-scale weapons to Azerbaijan is not right: it doesn’t contribute to strengthening Russia’s role in the South Caucasus, Andrey Areshev – expert at the Centre for the Central Asia and Caucasus Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences, told a press conference.
On October 20, according to preliminary reports, Defense Army soldiers Aram S. Khachatryan (born in 1998) and Hrach A. Avetisyan (born in 1997) received fatal gunshot wounds as a result of violating the rules of arms use.
Tigran Khachatryan, 1998, received fatal injury on October 19, at about 15:50 in the north-eastern direction of the contact line as a result of Azerbaijani shooting.
I do believe that what as been possible every where else around te planet can be possible in South Caucasus.
The opportunities to move forward the negotiation process over the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict were discussed. As a result of negotiations the Presidents agreed to take measures to intensify the negotiation process and take additional steps to reduce tension in the line of contact.
Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov also attended the meeting, which was organized under the auspices of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, Stephane Visconti of France, and Andrew Schofer of the United States of America). The Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also participated in the summit.
