“Since mid-January 2017 tragic events occur as a result of use of heavy artillery and antitank missiles. A notable escalation took place in May, considering the reports on the use of guided missiles in populated areas along the contact line,” the report says.
“We, in turn have repeatedly noted that by accusing the Armenian sides of violating the ceasefire regime the Azerbaijani authorities, in fact, try to conceal their responsibility for escalating the tensions on the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan and undermine the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group cochairs aimed at the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict exclusively by peaceful means.”
An investigation is underway at the General Military Investigation Department to find out the circumstances of the death of subofficer M. Khachatryan.
“Military exercises, seemingly artillery exercises, are currently underway in Azerbaijan. During these exercises, they install some targets and shoot them. Azerbaijan is presenting these as Armenian targets, just the way they do in other actions,” Artsrun Hovhannisyan, spokesman of Armenia’s defense minister said.
