Ahead of the April 2 parliamentary elections in Armenia, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) foundation has planned a series of events dedicated to the platforms of political forces running for Parliament.
“It seemed a year ago the situation over Iran was going for improvement, but now, it seems everything is changing back. The US is again speaking about sanctions against Iran. I’m not saying this will lead to war, but the fact that uncertainty is being created over Iran again is obvious. Iran is an important partner for Armenia, and I think Iran will look towards the EEU through Armenia,” he said.
Charnetsky stated that regarding signing Armenia-EU agreement the “ball” is mostly in the “court” of the new government. However, according to him, it seems to him no matter who will win in the elections, they’d intend to ratify the negotiated new agreement with the EU.
5 political parties and 4 alliances, taking part in the upcoming parliamentary elections on April 2, have filled in declarations of property and incomes, which are available on the official website of Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
“As for operations by Azerbaijan, they are rather predictable. Every event, which once again proves that Artsakh is a productive and complete state, stirs aggression. It’s necessary to show on the site that the conflict isn’t resolved. And NKR Defense Army showed its readiness to such “traditional” attacks.”
“I can’t state what results will current efforts by the Co-Chairs have. I can surely state that success will be very local, global agreements aren’t anticipated in this conflict, as interests of parties to the conflict, external players haven’t considerably changed throughout recent years.”
“I should calm down everyone both media outlets and expert community representatives, stating that EEU isn’t being failed and is a priority for all EEU member countries.”
On the eve of the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Armenia, discussing the Statement of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs of 17 February, 2017 on the Constitutional Referendum of 20 February, 2017 held in the Republic of Artsakh, the Board of the Political Science Association of Armenia (PSAA) adopted an Appeal to the Secretary General of the OSCE and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship states.
“Threat for a new war exists as long as Azerbaijan isn’t convinced that the issue doesn’t have a military settlement,” Serzh Sargsyan said, adding that Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev disrupts peaceful settlement attempts.
I consider maybe hatred will intensify not toward the authorities, but RPA, and in that case the latter will face serious issues, if we bring 1-2 bodies from the border every day, it’s another issue, but if the April War repeats, it’ll bring a different reflection and no one can say what it’ll be like: will election process be suspended or no, will hatred against RPA intensify or not? It’s difficult to say, but it may have an effect.
