Azerbaijani forces made over 100 ceasefire violations on March 1 and overnight March 2 in the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh/NKR) – Azerbaijan line of contact, firing over 1200 rounds and NKR positions from various caliber small arms and mortars, grenade launchers.
The Azerbaijani side continued violating the ceasefire regime along Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line starting from 11:25, March 1, using 60 and 82 mm mortars and grenade launchers firing 10 projectiles in the direction of Armenian border guards.
Azerbaijani forces fired more than 1100 rounds at NKR positions from various caliber machine guns and artillery weapons. In the south-eastern direction (Martuni), in addition to firing D- 44 cannons, Azerbaijani forces also fired TR 107 rocket-artillery systems (5 rockets). Yesterday, Azerbaijan had used a SPIKE anti-tike missile in the same direction.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues pertinent to the futher development and strengthening of the Armenia-EU relations. The President underscored that it is proper indeed to speak of joint accomplishments of the last two years.
The Defense Army suffered no casualties from the use of the remote control anti-tank by Azerbaijan. Note that today apart from using UAVs, the Azerbaijani side continued to violate the ceasere regime by ring from different-caliber rearms, including automatic grenade launcher (AGS 17 – 10 grenades) and 60 mm mortars (2 projectiles).
“Azerbaijan’s new attempts to engage in a military adventure can have unpredictable consequences for Azerbaijan itself. Armenia, as the guarantor of Nagorno Karabakh’s security, has stated on many occasions that it was ready to respond adequately to any attempt to use force.”
The behavior of the international community of putting a sign of parity between the sides gives Azerbaijan an opportunity to regularly violate the ceasefire regime and instigate armed provocations on Karabakh-Azerbaijan border.
In the early hours of February 25, 2017, the Azerbaijani armed forces attempted an attack on the positions of the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh Republic), which was neutralized by the military units of Artsakh. The incident was the most serious violation of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan after the April war of 2016.
Intense violations occurred in the eastern and northeastern directions, where Azerbaijan fired a total of 15 shells from 60mm and 82mm mortars.
